When booking our trip to Dubai, I instantly knew where I wanted to stay for our trip. I had seen many other travellers visiting the Shangri-La Dubai Hotel and knew I wanted a room with this spectacular view of the Burj Khalifa.

This place isn’t budget friendly but is a once in a lifetime experience, so here is my full review.

This hotel in downtown Dubai offers a fairly decent location. It is a short taxi away from the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa and stands alongside a string of other well known hotel chains; meaning there are a selection of high-end restaurants and bars within walking distance. There are also some more budget friendly options within a 10-15 minute walk, including Chilies and Nando’s.

We stayed in at the Horizon Club room with a gorgeous corner view of the Burj Khalifa. The room was spacious and modern and I loved the bath tub; although I did wonder how anyone with back problems would be able to get in and out of it!

The Shangri-La Hotel offers various restaurants and bars for customers. The Dunes Cafe is an all-day dining area in the lobby of the hotel, with world-class chefs preparing food at live cooking stations. The Hoi An restaurant offers Vietnamese dishes and the Shang Palace offers elegant Chinese dishes including Beijing duck and Yum Cha.

Overlooking the hotel lobby, the Balcony Bar is a classy bar area with some spectacular cocktails. If you are looking for an outdoor lounge area, the IKandy UltraLounge offers live DJ’s, flavoured shisha and pool for a late night dip.

The hotel also includes a Luxury Spa; Chi, that offers all of the usual massages and a gym, tennis courts and pool.

Everyone was friendly and welcoming, nothing more or less than what you would expect from a Shangri-La hotel. The manager of the hotel had actually managed the Tianjin Shangri-La some time ago; small world!

On check in, we were upgraded to Horizon Club Members. This included a delicious afternoon that ran throughout the afternoons and entrance into the buffet breakfast. It also gave us access to the Horizon Club Lounge; a private bar, pool and rooftop terrace giving us another view of the city.
These are our thoughts on our stay in the Shangri-La Dubai Hotel. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it if you have the budget – this is a pricier hotel in Dubai but then Dubai is an expensive place to visit.
